Ásgerður óf verkið 1984 að beiðni Bandaríska lögfræðingsins Foster Bam, eftir að hann heimsótti hana á vinnustofu hennar, og þau héldu síðan sambandi í þó nokkur ár. Við leit að verkinu uppgötvaði ég að Mr Bam var þá nýlega látinn (2023), en tókst að ná sambandi við son hans, Eric, sem setti mig í samband við ekkju hans, Sallie Baldwin. Þetta var hjartnæmt svar hennar, þegar hún heyrði af leit minni að verkinu: “Your mother’s art is with me, hanging in the library room of my home. It hung in Foster’s office from the time it arrived until Foster passed away last year. It was one of Foster’s prize possessions. He displayed it with great pride and joy. I am attaching a photo that I just took to reassure you it is safe and sound. The photos are not great but will identify the art. It is amazing how connections and paths cross without knowing the true depth. I was so touched, and tears filled my eyes as Eric read aloud to me your email from Greece. Foster was an amazing person with so many interesting loves. I am Foster’s 4 wife and had not met Foster when he commissioned your mother for this weaving. As you might know Foster loved Iceland and went there every year for 25 or so years. Of course, his driving force to go to Iceland was the salmon fishing, so fishing led him to his love of the country, its culture, art, landscape and people. I met Foster in 1985, and he introduced his passion to me in 1986.”
